Peter and Essie (Self-help): [key connection: Significant Person]

19-21 May, Weekend retreat: After missing out on a long overdue vacation, Peter planned a weekend outing in the Wachusett Mountains. Quiet relaxation in a cozy cabin since the ski season ended. His brush with death broke his hesitancy: he invited Essie along. They spent the weekend relaxing, enjoying the outdoors, and rekindling their relationship, leaving their worries (and hopefully the occult) behind. At least when they returned to Arkham, they had renewed their will to carry on, facing whatever the world has to throw at them.

[Peter, 1D10= 19; no Sanity change] [Essie, 1D100= 94; gain of 6 Sanity]

Peter’s Therapy

[Session1: 1d10=9, 1d8=1, 1d100=91, 1d100=44, +$13 for a weekly session on the Couch = Gain of 3 Sanity]

[Session2: 1d10=10, 1d8=1, 1d100=61, 1d100=03, +$13 for a weekly Hypnosis session = Gain of 7 Sanity]

Dr. Turner opened his notepad as Peter lay on the couch, “Sounds like your weekend retreat was more stressful than relaxing. Reconnecting with a loved one you knowingly place in danger. How does that feel?” Peter knew locking her away at home wasn’t the answer; Essie was strong-willed and determined. No, the best way to protect her was to stay at her side, even if that meant both of them in danger.

When Peter returned the following week, Dr. Turner had him roll up his sleeve. "Medication to help you become more receptive to the treatment. No, I promise I won’t make you bark like a dog or do tricks. More suggestions to help clear your mind.”

Phillip

Sunday, May14th (Phillip’s Self Help): [key connection- Significant People: dead brother Richard]

It began to rain as Phillip stood near his brother’s grave; so, he sought refuge under the oak tree. But the rain only added misery to the ominous mood. Phillip soon retreated to his car and sought solace from his flask of whiskey. [No change.]

Phillip’s Therapy

[1st month: 1d10=6, 1d8=8, 1d100=28, 1d100=19, +$25 for a monthly session of Experimental = gain of 9 Sanity]

Dr. Head puzzled at Phillip’s reluctance to continue with hypnosis, “But I thought you made good strides. Oh well. Perhaps you’d prefer one of my newest sessions. I call it the “cone of solace.” Dogs are known to be man’s best friend; so, perhaps the soft whimper sounds of a dog might refocus your thoughts.”

Essie

Essie’s Therapy

[Session1: 1d10=7, 1d8=4, 1d100=57, 1d100=10, +$17 for a weekly session of Advanced Medicine = Gain of 9 Sanity]

[Session2: 1d10=4, 1d8=8, 1d100=72, 1d100=47, +$17 for a weekly session of Advanced Medicine = Gain of 2 Sanity]

Dr. Anakoff gathered his nurses and aids as they had Essie lie down. “I thought we would try Insulin Shock Therapy. Using a tube and funnel, we pour insulin through your nose to induce a deep sleep.” Essie became worried when she saw all the attendees at hand. “Oh, nothing to worry about. They are here just to help cleanup if the insulin spills.” Essie was about to protest but her thoughts soon drowned out. What was most surprising was she came back the next week for another treatment of the same torture!
