Sunlight barely leaked into the prisoner hut from under the door threshold, but it provided enough light to guide Essie in her escape. Essie burst through the door out into the sunlight and turned with her bow ready to shoot her attacker, but pulled up when Brian Hall led his son Arthur (father/son hunting team) and the kidnapped girl Jane Strong out the door.  Essie gasped at what stood in the door...

Essie came forward to check the man for weapons. She pulled a watch-n-chain from Sidney’s pocket and opened it to find an old picture of a 30ish couple. The man looked awfully like Peter. She handed the watch to Peter, “I think this belonged to your dad.” Sidney shook his head to clear his cobwebs, “Who are you people?!” Essie , although frightened & caught off guard, knew the pain of losing a loved one.
